FPL Show: Don’t overlook Salah for captaincy

Mohamed Salah, Liverpool

Fantasy expert Tom Cantle says reliable Liverpool star is worth backing over Double Gameweek options

Emmanuel Dennis. Wout Weghorst. Fantasy Premier League managers have learned this season that it is not always best to pick a captain just because they have a Double Gameweek.

Fantasy expert Tom Cantle is keen to avoid that mistake in Double Gameweek 28 and is planning to give the armband to Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) even though the Liverpool star only has one fixture, against West Ham United.

“I still think he’s captainable,” Tom explains in the latest episode of the FPL Show. “The rest of the players play for teams that if it wasn’t a Double Gameweek, we wouldn’t be as obsessed about.

“With Salah, you’ve got that known quantity. He can get that, sort of, eight or nine points you want from a captain.

“Against West Ham, who may have some fatigue after playing the same team over and over again, he could do well.”

Conversely, fellow expert Wes Prickett hasn’t been put off by past failures this season.

“I will still be going for a Double Gameweek captain,” he says.

“I just like to go for those players with two fixtures. It can backfire like it did last week with Weghorst, but I will be going for a Double Gameweek option.”

In addition to EPL matches there is Fantasy Premier League betting available on Meridian bet site.
